PDL draws on a wide range of engineering
expertise within the organisation and we stand confident in
the knowledge that we have the capability to engage with our
customers in some
of the most demanding and complex engineering design projects.

CAD - 3D assembly sequence animation
|
To give our engineers the scope to import,
create and export complex 3D assembly files in a timely and
robust manner, we have installed Pro|ENGINEER® across
the organisation as our CAD operating platform.
Pro|ENGINEER® provides parametric modeling
capability ensuring that a change made in the 3D environment
is automatically reflected in the 2D environment and vice
versa.
Having created the 3D models, we can then
animate a full assembly build sequence, show a detailed mechanism
simulation, or create photo-realistic renderings of the final
product in its deployed position based on this virtual 3D
model data.
The real power of Pro|ENGINEER®, however,
comes to light in its ability to undertake detailed engineering
cross checks and balances on a given assembly to detect any
clash or tolerance issues between mating parts prior to manufacture.

CAD - Detailed interference check
We have also configured our systems in such
a way that there is a seamless transition
from the 3D CAD environment into our FEA and CFD analysis
environments. This seamless transition between the design
and analysis environments is key to the implementation of
our 'do, check, do' philosophy enabling our engineers to assess
the effect of a design change on the anticipated service performance
as the design evolves.
This iterative design and analysis process
will start even in the early concept generation stages of
a project and will continue throughout the detailed design
phase till all structural
and fluid flow performance requirements are met.
Pro|ENGINEER® is a highly compatible
operating system and our engineers are well versed
in defining the optimum file formats to allow for the effective
transfer of 2D and 3D information.
