FEA modal analysis to determine natural resonant frequencies
|
Activities to date vary from the detailed
modal analysis of actuating sensor assemblies at engine operating
frequencies through to the metal-to-plastic conversion of
main engine block components and structural assemblies.
For any given study, be it failure mode investigation
or cost reduction initiatives, the PDL methodology starts
with modelling the 'as is' state to gain a correlation between
the current assembly and the FEA software.
Once the 'as is' performance benchmark is
known and understood, variations in design, materials or loads
can be assessed on a relative performance basis.
In the case of cost reduction initiatives
where a generic change from metal to plastic is being considered,
the PDL design engineers will not only verify the structural,
dynamic and thermal performances within the FEA and CFD environments,
they will also undertake Moldflow® analyses to verify
the suitability of a given design in a given material for
consistent volume manufacture.
PDL is the development partner of choice
for automotive new product introduction and cost reduction
initiatives.
We would welcome the opportunity to meet
for an initial exploratory meeting at no cost to discuss your
automotive project requirements in detail.
