The PDL core CAD, FEA and Moldflow® skills were engaged in the detailed design and development of a new currency cassette assembly for the world's leading ATM manufacturer.

The brief of increased functionality, reduced footprint size,
at no extra cost was challenging to all parties involved.

The iterative 'do, check, do' methodology between the CAD and the FEA environments enabled the PDL engineers and customer project managers to assess the validity of new innovative ideas and concepts within a matter of hours.

Preliminary concept models were imported into the ANSYS® LS-DYNA™ software to simulate the effect
of dropping a full and half loaded assembly from a set height to assess the structural integrity of the internal
component parts.

ATM Dispenser

Conductive engineering polymers were used to replace metal alloys in static dissipative
areas, and all plastic components were imported into the Moldflow® environment to
assess their suitability for consistent volume manufacture.

PDL excels in the use of leading engineering software tools in the concurrent design and analysis complex electro-mechanical assemblies.

	February 2010: PDL attend the Sellafield Supplier Forum at the Sellafield Visitors Centre on Tuesday 23rd February 2010. PDL attend the Subsea 2010 conference and exhibition at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. PDL awarded PD&MS contract. PDL engineers to provide complimentary STAAD.Pro and Mathcad structural engineering support to the PD&MS engineering team. PDL win Active Offshore Holdings feasibility study contract. PDL engineers to provide advanced CFD analysis support to the AOH engineering team throughout Q1 2010. PDL invest in STAAD.Pro structural analysis software. The STAAD.Pro license will compliment the already extensive ANSYS FEA license portfolio and provide additional environmental loading assessment capabilities. PDL awarded BEL Valves contract. PDL engineers to undertake an FEA design assessment of a subsea valve to the DNV-RP-112 design code. January 2010: PDL awarded Eurofighter contract. PDL engineers to provide engineering design support to the Lightfoot Defence Ltd led consortia on the SELEX Galileo Eurofighter Typhoon Technical Support Equipment project. PDL win Magnox South contract extension. PDL engineers to provide continued engineering support to the Magnox South STIR project team at the Hinkley Point A licensed nuclear site in Somerset. PDL awarded StatoilHydro/FMC Technologies/Oil States Industries contract extension. PDL engineers to provide ongoing 3D finite element analysis support to the FMC Kongsberg and OSI engineering teams on the 8.625” Merlin Riser Connector Recertification programme. The PDL expansion continues. Paul Robinson joins the PDL engineering team in the role of Senior Design Engineer. With some 30 years experience in the power generation, defence and subsea industries, Paul will be an invaluable asset to the PDL engineering team and their clients. December 2009: PDL win Expro contract. PDL engineers to provide advanced FEA and fatigue assessment support to the Expro engineering team throughout 2010 on the EH7400 project. PDL awarded Red Marine contract. PDL engineers to provide OrcaFlex global analysis support to the Red Marine engineering team to replicate the offloading and installation of a subsea umbilical in differing water levels and various sea-state conditions. PDL receive two nominations at the coveted NOF Energy Annual Awards. PDL are short-listed for the Innovation & Technology Award and Alex Roff is short listed for the Best Individual Award. The winners will be announced in front of 300 delegates at the NOF Energy Annual Awards dinner being held at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield on Thursday 11th December 2009.
