The industrial market sector
covers a vast range of application areas where PDL engineers
have supported clients on projects ranging from the CFD optimisation
of fluid flow through
a diaphragm discharge pump; the re-design and FEA validation
of low cost plastic pump housings, meter bodies and tensioning
mechanism from high cost metal alloys; to the FEA optimisation
and subsequent re-design of an innovative fire-fighters helmet
to withstand large longitudinal and transverse compressive
loads.
The scope in this industrial sector
is huge, but to date we have not yet been faced with
a design or analysis challenge to which we have not
brought added value in some shape or form to our customer’s
project.
The industrial market sector is probably
the largest general category of all yet it remains the
one where we seem to engage with our clients mainly
on a reactive basis rather than a
proactive one.

to help analyse why something has gone wrong, or is not performing
the way it should, rather than analysing the predicted performance
in the design phase before any parts are actually made and
