Congratulations to PDL Engineer, George Varelis, who became an ‘Ironman’ this weekend after completing the Barcelona 70.3.

George’s finishing rank was 1238 out of over 2000 competitors – an impressive feat! George was competing in the Male 30 – 34 age category and had to swim 1.9 kilometres (around 1.2 miles), cycle 90km (55.9 miles) and run 21.1 km (a half marathon distance of 13.1 miles). He finished in an impressive 6 hours 25 minutes and 40 seconds with times for his swim, bike and run as follows:

  • Swim 00:41:41
  • Bike 03:42:04
  • Run 01:52:29

George says, “It takes a lot of effort to reach the finish line, but it is definitely worth it!”
