PDL News and Events

PDL Solutions North America will be attending the International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum from October 2nd to 5th, hosted in Newport, Rhode Island. The Forum aims to connect the developing US Offshore Wind industry to creative and experienced minds based all over the US and beyond.

The Offshore Wind industry is in its relative infancy in the US. The Forum will provide an opportunity for industry leaders to meet and discuss concepts with internationally experienced technology developers, as well as drawing on expertise which can be cultivated from other technology rich fields, such as the Oil Industry. Following the success of the Block Island Wind Farm project, participating companies will look for lessons learned and how improvements can be applied to highly anticipated, future US fields.

From their long experience with development of European based offshore wind field installations, PDL provides an understanding of multiple aspects of offshore wind fields which will prove invaluable to future US projects. The installation process of cables and umbilical’s, installation of Monopiles, and design optimisation of turbine blades are a few ways in which PDL can support future field developments, optimising the processes, reducing costs and increasing project efficiency. Capabilities including Global Dynamic Analysis (Orcaflex), Finite Element Analysis (FEA)  and Computational Fluid Dynamics  (CFD) contribute to the engineering support which can be utilised through PDL Solutions.
